MERCI
IDENTITY & PACKAGE REBRAND

Objective

The goal of this project is to completely rebrand the famous European chocolate company, Merci. I decided to take on this project because I get so depressed whenever I eat their chocolate. The packaging and all else is so beautifully created, but the branding totally destroys it. I'm hoping to give the new design a more elegant and luxurious, modern trending design. I promise this will give Merci's chocolate fans all around the world a sigh of relief.

Packaging

I wanted to try to create a unique style chocolate box packaging with the simplicity of type and information given about the chocolate. Although the original packaging now is on the fancy side, I wanted to try something a bit different. I wanted this to be something you can carry in your bag or purse and look sexy at the same time. I did a lot of research on the different styles of asian dessert and candy packaging. They had so many different bold and yet very elegant styles, I thought it was a perfect match.

Packaging Details

The different flavors and types of chocolates are indicated by the color usage. The type of flavor, percentage number of cacao, origin of ingredients, and the number of pieces are all beautifully designed into the layout. The bold and yet very elegant strip of color also helps to easily recognize the type of flavor. Everything was handmade and InDesign was used to create the production diecut and fold lines before the printing process. Special finishings such as adhesives were also included.
